XENIA, Ohio (WDTN) — Town of Xenia is honoring their fire chief as he prepares to retire.
Fire and EMS Chief Kenneth E. Riggsby is retiring after 42 years of public service. In the course of the Xenia Metropolis Council assembly on April 24, town honored Riggsby via the unanimous passing of a decision expressing appreciation for every part he is achieved for the group.
Riggsby is a graduate of Xenia Excessive College, who started his firefighting profession as a volunteer firefighter for the Xenia Township Fire Division. He joined the Xenia Fire Division in 1983, ascending the ranks to ultimately change into chief in 2011.
Xenia leaders commend Riggsby for his position in modernizing dispatch methods, bettering staffing ranges and launching the Division’s first Fire Officers Academy in 2018.
In recognition of his management, town renamed its Excellent Management Award in his honor. The “Kenneth Riggsby Excellent Management Award” was introduced to him on the Fire & EMS Division’s Awards Banquet on March 19, 2025.
