Miami Valley lawmarkers' abortion bill seeks to nullify Issue 1 amendment

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Lower than two years after Ohio voted to change the state structure to permit abortion, a bill aiming to make almost all abortions unlawful is being ready within the statehouse.

The (*1*) group introduced Tuesday, June 17, that the “Ohio Prenatal Equal Safety Act” could be filed Wednesday.

Authored by Reps. Levi Dean (R-Xenia) and Johnathan Newman (R-Troy), the bill would abolish abortion by making use of the prison and civil protections from the Ohio Revised Code to fetuses in the mean time of fertilization.

The assertion then claimed Ohio’s constitutional amendment enshrining abortion entry must be handled as null and void.

“It flagrantly violates the Equal Safety Clause of the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Structure, by denying preborn individuals the fitting to life,” wrote Finish Abortion Ohio. “In interesting to the 14th Amendment, the Ohio Prenatal Equal Safety Act appeals to a better regulation; the U.S. Structure.”
