Cubs rout Brewers, Milwaukee shut out for 2nd straight game

Michael Busch hit his first profession grand slam and Pete Crow-Armstrong added two solo photographs because the Chicago Cubs beat the Milwaukee Brewers 10-0 on Friday.

This marked the primary matchup of the season between the NL Central-leading Cubs and the Brewers, who gained this division every of the final two seasons.

The Brewers have been shut out once more two nights after closing a 10-game journey with an 8-0 loss to the Chicago White Sox. The final time the Brewers have been shut out in back-to-back video games was in Could 2023.

By the numbers:

Chicago took the lead for good by scoring two runs within the first inning off Tyler Alexander (1-3), who served because the Brewers’ opener earlier than giving approach to Quinn Priester. The Cubs scored seven runs in opposition to Priester within the second to interrupt the game open.

Cubs starter Ben Brown (3-2) struck out 4 in six innings whereas permitting 4 hits and no walks. Chris Flexen labored the ultimate three innings for his third profession save, and first since 2022.

After permitting a leadoff single to Dansby Swanson within the second, Priester walked Nicky Lopez on a 3-2 sinker after which walked Ian Happ on 4 pitches to load the bases with no person out. These two walks set the stage for the Cubs’ seven-run outburst.

Crow-Armstrong’s two homers from the No. 7 spot within the lineup continued the Cubs’ run of success from the underside third of their lineup. The Cubs have 18 homers this season from gamers batting seventh, eighth or ninth. They entered Friday main the majors in that class.

Cubs RHP Jameson Taillon (1-1, 4.01 ERA) goes in opposition to Brewers LHP José Quintana (4-0, 1.14) on Saturday.
